Great Canadian iPhone Holiday Giveaway Contest Rules

The “Great Canadian iPhone Holiday Giveaway” Contest (the “Contest”) runs between November 17, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and December 31, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”). BestSchools.ca is the sponsor of this Contest (the "Sponsor").

By participating in this Contest, the entrant (or the entrant’s parent or legal guardian if the entrant is a minor) agrees that they have read and understood these Official Rules (the “Rules”), met the Contest eligibility requirements, be bound by the Rules, and (or the entrant’s parent or legal guardian if the entrant is a minor) agrees to comply with and abide by the Rules and decisions of the Sponsor, whose decisions shall be final.

Eligibility: To be eligible to win a prize, an entrant must:

a) be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or an international student. Excludes residents of Quebec;

b) be 13 years of age or older at the time of contest entry.

c) currently enrolled or has been enrolled within the past three years (fall 2012 to fall 2015) at an accredited Canadian school (entrant must be able to provide appropriate proof of enrolment, if requested);

d) be a member of BestSchools.ca as of the time of entry and continue to be a member during the Contest Period (a BestSchools.ca member is defined as “an individual who has confirmed their account via the validation email sent from BestSchools.ca and currently has an active profile on BestSchools.ca (the “Website”)”. Free memberships available at BestSchools.ca), and;

e) not be an employee of, or living with an employee of the Sponsor, their subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or representatives or a member of an employee’s immediate family. Members of the immediate family of an employee not eligible to receive a prize include the employee’s parents, children and siblings.

How to enter: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter, an eligible entrant (the “Entrant”) must post a valid Comment or Discussion (a “Posting”) using their Full Name as indicated in their BestSchools.ca Public Profile (i.e. not anonymously) and subsequently like the posting on Facebook within the Contest Period.  To be considered a valid Posting, the Posting must answer the  question posted by the original comment or be a new Posting and must not contain any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. Sponsor reserves the right to delete or disqualify any Comment for any reason at their discretion. Entrants are solely responsible for the content of their Replies, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor with respect to any claim based upon transmission of their material. One (1) valid Posting will generate one (1) entry (an “Entry”) into the Contest.

 Entrants will be encouraged to get their friends to like the comment and share on Facebook for an extra one (1) entry into the Contest. Individuals who have an active BestSchools.ca account may click like directly on the Posting profile when they are logged into Facebook (a “Like”). An individual can submit a maximum of one (1) Like for each Posting. In the event of a tie, a random draw will be conducted between the most entries and the one (1) selected in the draw will receive the Prize.

The Sponsor determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, that any Entrant or Voter that has not complied with these rules in any way, and reserves the right to cancel the Entrant's Posting, disqualify all their entries, and disqualify any Posting that they have submitted and any further participation by such individual in the Contest. Reasons for disqualification may include, but not limited to,: (i) the use of proxy voting, (ii) registering more than one (1) time on the Website and/or creating false accounts by using multiple e-mails or dummy e-mail addresses, or (iii) the use of other fraudulent means in an attempt to make more than one Like during the Contest Period.

Prize: There is one (1) Contest prize available to be won, consisting of an Apple iPhone 6S 16GB (the “Prize”). The Prize will be delivered to the individual selected and declared the winner. Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable. No substitutions except at Sponsor’s option. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a Prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

Winner Notification/Prize Awards: The following process will be followed for the Contest. The selected Entrant will be informed of their prize notification by email from the Sponsor. Entrants will be contacted through the email address provided on the selected Entrant’s BestSchools.ca Profile within five (5) business days following the end of the Contest Period. In order to win the prize, the selected Entrant must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, arithmetical, skill-testing question and sign and return the completed Sponsors’ declaration and release form (the “Sponsor Release”) within ten (10) days from the time the prize notification is marked as having been sent by the Sponsor. The skill-testing question and the Sponsor Release will be included in the prize notification package from the Sponsor. The potential winner will be disqualified and forfeit their right to the prize if: (a) the prize notification is returned as non-deliverable and/or the entrant cannot be reached by email; (b) if the Sponsor Release, including skill-testing question, is not returned within ten (10) days from the time the prize notification package is marked as having been sent by the Sponsor; or (c) if the skill-testing question is incorrectly answered. In the event of such a disqualification, at the Sponsors’ sole discretion and time permitting, the prize may be awarded to the potential alternate who will be randomly drawn from all entrants. In the event of a tie, a draw will be conducted as outlined above in section 2.

Additional Terms: By participating, all entrants (and their parent or legal guardian if they are a minor) agree to: (a) these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor that shall be final and binding without right of appeal with respect to all aspects of the Contest, including without limitation, eligibility and/or disqualification of entries; and (b) release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor, their subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or representatives and any of the foregoing entity’s respective officers, directors, related entities, partners, principals, representatives, agents, licensees, employees, vendors, successors and assigns (collectively the “Contest Parties”) from any liability, claims, or damages, demands, actions, or causes of action whatsoever which they, their heirs, successors, assigns, executors, or administrators may now or hereafter have directly or indirectly against them or any of them in respect of or relating to the Contest, an entrant’s participation in the Contest, and/or the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of the prize.


By accepting a Prize, the winner agrees to the Sponsor and their respective designees using their name, city, province or territory of residence, education information and/or photograph or other likeness for advertising and publicity purposes without notice or compensation. All entries are subject to verification at any time. The Sponsor reserve the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to require proof of identity and/or eligibility (in a form acceptable to the Sponsor – including, without limitation, government issued photo identification) to participate in this Contest. Failure to provide such proof to the satisfaction of the Sponsor in a timely manner may result in disqualification. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be: (a) attempting to tamper with or undermine the entry process, the BestSchools.ca website, and/or the legitimate operation of the Contest; (b) to violate the Official Rules; (c) or to act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other member of the BestSchools.ca community.

Limitation of Liability: The Sponsor shall not be responsible for technical, pictorial, print, typographical or editorial errors or omissions contained in the offer or administration of the Contest or any other Contest-related materials; for fraudulent, stolen, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, illegible, or postage-due mail-in entries; or for entries that are lost due to computer or electronic malfunction. The Sponsor reserves the right, to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the Contest as determined in their sole discretion. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, and/or amend the Contest with or without notice.

Privacy Policy: By entering this Contest, you consent to the Sponsor, their subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or representatives storing and using the personal information submitted through entry for the purpose of administering the Contest in accordance with these Official Rules and the Sponsor’s privacy policy and terms of use, which can be found at http://bestschools.ca/forum/privacy and http://bestschools.ca/forum/terms.
