Actuarial Science Degree?

Hello,

I am thinking about starting school in January, but I have several concerns and I trust a few individuals out there have been through a similar situation and can offer some guidance and advice.

I'm interested in becoming an actuary - I met my friend's mom who seems to have a really interesting job. However, I wonder if all the stats and math five years later will make me hate the field. It's also tough because an act sci degree will only get you into act sci. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket!

I then found out to be an actuary or statistician you just have to pass exams and you don't need a specific degree in act sci. I'm thinking it may be better to get a more general degree in case I end up hating act sci? Maybe a stats major with minor in accounting?

Let me know what you think!
