TD Leadership Scholarship for Community Involvement

Does anyone have suggestions or tips in getting the TD scholarship? My average is 94% and my extra-curriculars I would say are really good. I'm just wondering about if a teacher reference is good enough or should I join a non-profit and get a senior director to give me a better one?
